- The MUALA Executive is authorized to make a donation of up to $500 to an association of librarians, faculty or academic staff at a Canadian university in a strike or lockout situation. In the case of a prolonged strike or lockout (of more than one month duration), the Executive is authorized to make additional donations, in increments of $200 or less, provided that the total donated to the aforementioned association shall not exceed $1000.
- Donations to special causes shall not be made without the approval of the Membership and shall not exceed $500. Approval for such donations shall be contingent on a simple majority vote in favour by the general membership.
- Donations to charitable organizations shall not be made except as provided above.
- Donations to political parties shall not be made.
- When a Member has suffered bereavement, the Executive is authorized to send flowers in an amount to $50 or send the equivalent sum to the charity selected by the family in lieu of flowers. Bereavement shall include the death of a father, mother, spouse/partner, child or grandchild.
- Where a Member is on sick leave because of a serious illness or accident, the Executive is authorized to send flowers in an amount up to $50 or other equivalent get-well gift to the Member.
- Where a Member or the spouse/partner of a Member has given birth or adopted a child, the Executive is authorized to send flowers or another equivalent gift in an amount up to $50 to the family.
